Georgia got from the US first anti-tank Javelin

The Minister of defence of Georgia Levan Izoria announced the successful completion of the first phase of purchases of American anti-tank Javelin. He said this during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador in Georgia Ian Kelly, the “Georgia Online”.

Izoria also reported that soon will start the exercises, during which Georgian soldiers will acquire skills to work with the new weapons. He assured that the Javelin is hosted in Georgia “in a safe place.”

Georgia in 2017, appealed to the United States with a proposal to sell the 410 and 72 missiles Javelin command launchers (including two command launch unit), 10 educational complexes and 70 charges for them. In November, the US state Department has approved the sale of the Tbilisi missile complexes in the amount of $ 75 million.

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia has regarded the decision of the state Department as a boost of Georgia to the “new dangerous adventures”. Georgian defense Minister pointed to the fact that the Javelin is a defensive weapon, and also added that Georgia’s decision to purchase anti-tank missile system is not directed against any country.
