One of the largest in the history of the world of diamonds “Legend Lesotho” sold for $ 40 million, reported the British company Gem Diamonds Ltd.
“Gem Diamonds is pleased to announce that a diamond of exceptional quality weighing 910 carats, reached a value of $ 40 million at auction in Antwerp, which took place on 12 March 2018,” said the company.
The diamond was found at the Letseng mine in the Kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa. Precious stone has become the fifth largest ever found. Mineral refers to the diamonds of the second type, which contain almost no impurities and nitrogen are among the most expensive in the world.
The Letseng mine is famous for the size and quality of extracted precious stones there. In 2006 there were found four of the 20 largest white diamonds in the world. The biggest of them is “the Promise of Lesotho” (Lesotho Promise), weighing 603 carats, or 121 grams.
In September 2017 in Canada was sold to the world’s largest diamond Lesedi La Rona. The buyer was Graff Diamonds, the amount of the transaction amounted to 53 million dollars.
