Gazprom needs to fulfill all contractual obligations before Ukraine. This was stated by the foreign Minister of the EU Federica Mogherini, RIA Novosti reported.
According to her, the European Commission is actively working in this direction and is ready to resume trilateral talks. Discussion of the situation, according to Mogherini, would be an effective tool in resolving differences. However, the head of the energy Ministry of Russia Alexander Novak said that the gas issue is a matter of companies, and tripartite negotiations are planned.
Previously, on 7 March, the government of Ukraine reported about the arrest of assets of Russian holding company “Gazprom” for “abuse of monopoly legislation and rulings of the Stockholm arbitration”. On 2 March, the Ukrainian company “Naftogaz” called on Ukrainians to be patient, saving gas in order to spite the Russian “Gazprom” and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the decision of the Stockholm arbitration court, Gazprom must pay out of 2.56 billion dollars in the dispute with the Ukrainian company. The international court of justice is also obliged to resume gas supplies to Ukraine in the amount of five billion cubic meters of gas per year.
