The Ministry of agriculture did not support the strategy of the Ministry of health on formation of healthy lifestyle of the population due to excise taxes on pickles, RBC reports.
The strategy proposed to impose the excise tax on “sugary drinks” and “foods with excessive salt content”. “You should consider the tradition of consumption of foods, including sauerkraut, pickles, tomatoes, bread, kvass and so on,”— said Deputy Minister of agriculture Ivan Lebedev in a letter to Deputy health Minister Tatyana Yakovleva.
The Ministry of agriculture in principle criticizes the idea of dividing products into “harmful” and “healthy food”: an important diet and not the consumption of specific products, the Ministry emphasizes.
But pickles and sauerkraut, the Ministry of agriculture stood up not only because of the tradition.
“The Agency recognizes that the production of beverages, vegetable canned products and bakery products in recent time and so reduced, so because of the excise taxes may close some businesses, and the market will take the same goods from the countries of the Eurasian economic Union, where excise taxes will not” — said RBC.
The project of strategy of formation of healthy lifestyle of the population appeared in the year 2017. The Ministry of health is discussing with experts and Federal authorities restrictive measures. It is proposed, in particular, to specify on the bottle the maximum allowable daily dose of alcohol in milliliters, to prohibit VAPI and electronic cigarettes in public places, and restrict all forms of advertising of junk food, sweets and carbonated drinks.
