The expulsion of Russian diplomats from the UK is an unacceptable step. This is stated in the statement of the Russian Embassy in London.

“March 14, Alexander Yakovenko was summoned to the foreign office, where he was informed that 23 of the diplomat declared persona non grata”, — stated in the message. The mission believes such a measure is totally unacceptable, unreasonable and short-sighted.

The Embassy also pointed out that the blame for the deterioration of Russian-British relations lies with the current leadership of the United Kingdom.

Earlier, on 14 March, Prime Minister Theresa may announced the expulsion of Russian diplomats. She has formally accused Moscow of attempted murder of a former GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia, and also announced the suspension of all bilateral contacts with Russia.

Skripal and his daughter Julia was found unconscious on the street in early March. They were poisoned with nerve agent. They were hospitalized, currently they are in a coma.

London believes that the attempt is Moscow, as a former spy and his daughter was poisoned with a substance that is believed to be the British government, was developed Russia. The Russian leadership denies all allegations.
