Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman supported the decision of the Ministry of sports and heads of sports federations of the country banning travel to competitions in Russia. About this in Facebook wrote the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of sport Igor Zhdanov.
“Informed the government about the decision of the Federations of biathlon in the USA, Canada and the Czech Republic to boycott the world Cup. Reported on the meeting with the President of the biathlon Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Brynzak and a shared decision not to attend these competitions, as well as on the prohibition of the Ministry of sports for participation of Ukrainian athletes in competitions on the territory of Russia”, — said the Minister of sport.
Zhdanov said that the Prime Minister Groisman expressed their support in this matter. “All the Ministers are unanimous in this. Thank you to the athletes that made the right decision. While Russia will remain a country-aggressor, the whole world will increasingly respond in this way,” gave the Prime Minister Zhdanov.
March 13, Ukraine temporarily refused to participate in any sports competition in Russia. First Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vladimir Brynzak said that the lifting of the boycott it is necessary that “the overall political situation has improved”, and “the atmosphere ceased to deteriorate”.
