Apple stopped production of iPhone 8 Plus, the plant in Kunshan (China) for two weeks. The reason is that the supplier Wistron involved in the Assembly of devices probably used non-certified accessories. Reported by MacRumors, citing Taiwanese newspaper Commercial Times.
As writes the edition, Wistron has fined several high-ranking executives in an attempt to regain the trust of Apple. At the same time, the provider denies that the production of smartphones was stopped to ascertain the circumstances. However, amid speculation shares of Wistron fell in price by five percent.
It is not yet clear whether fall smartphones with fake waterproofing components on the shelves and how many of them.
Wistron produces only about 20 percent of iPhone 8 Plus, another 80 percent accounted for by the competing supplier Foxconn. The company invested 157 million dollars in the construction of a new plant in Bangalore (India), where it is planned to release the iPhone SE and maybe the iPhone 6s. At the moment Wistron among suppliers of Apple occupies a leading position in the Indian market.
