Roskosmos planned by 2025 through commercialization to reduce in two times the cost of their own to the International space station (ISS), RIA Novosti reported.
“We plan to 2025 to 50 percent of what we spend on the ISS to recoup the expense and space tourism and experimentation, and commercialization of the use of the ISS,” — said the General Director of Roscosmos Igor Komarov at the forum “Russia — country of opportunities”.
The head of state Corporation said that the total investment of all countries participating in the ISS during the existence of the project amounted to more than $ 150 billion, and every year on maintenance and work at the station spent more than five billion dollars.
Previously a private Russian company S7 invited Roskosmos to take the ISS in the concession after 2024 and create on the basis of the orbital laboratory transport system to be assembled in near-earth interplanetary space ships.
Only in the framework of the Federal space program for 2016 to 2025 to the ISS is planned to spend more than 250 billion rubles of budgetary funds. In 2018 it is planned to spend about 14 billion.
