Former Russian Finance Minister and head of the Centre for strategic developments (TSSR) Alexei Kudrin suggested not to respond to new sanctions from the United States. The former official believes the new Russian response inappropriate, reports TASS.

“I believe that in relation to the private American business sanctions inappropriate, as the business brings technology and investment. Sanctions will hamper our economic situation, they will not be productive,” — said Kudrin.

The former Finance Minister noted that imposed sanctions policy — “this one”, and business “other”. The head of CSR also recalled the words of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the last St. Petersburg international economic forum: “the President called all foreign companies. The introduction of retaliatory sanctions would be deception of the promises that he gave.”

The U.S. Treasury on 6 April imposed new sanctions against Russian companies, officials, public managers and businessmen. For the first two trading days after the introduction of restrictions, the Russian market collapsed, the ruble against the dollar and the Euro has updated the lows for half a year.

United States are considering even tougher sanctions against Russia, the reason for the new restrictions may be poisoning Sergei Skripal in the UK.
