Billionaire Jim Irsay (Jim Irsay) has acquired at auction a rare copy of the book, dedicated to the principles of getting rid of alcohol addiction. The cost of a 161-page publication was 2.4 million dollars, reports the Associated Press.
This book is one of the first printed guides of the movement “alcoholics Anonymous”. Irsay, for many years attended the meeting of the organization, plans to put the acquisition in the headquarters of the society in new York.
On the website of the auction house Profiles in History it is reported that the auction was put up a draft of the so-called “Big book”, which describes the program “12 steps” that are participants in the meetings of alcoholics Anonymous. The manuscript dates back to 1939, its pages abound with notes and revisions that the authors made in the original text.
