World champion swam for a puppy and drowned

Five-time world champion motocross Eric Geboers found dead in a recreational pond in Belgium. It is reported by The Sun.

According to the newspaper, the driver was found by rescuers. The evening of may 6 Gabors went missing after he jumped from the boat into the icy water trying to rescue from the water of the puppy, a Shiba inu, which gave his wife. Friends of the athlete rushed to help, but returned to the boat because of too cold water.

55-year-old Gabors is the only racer and motocrosser in history, who became world champion in three classes: 125, 250 and 500 cubic centimetres. In 1988, he became the sportsman of the year and won the national trophy for sporting merit.

In July 2017 12-year-old British Rugby player Owen Jenkins died while trying to save a drowning girl. The athlete jumped into the water and helped lush to get out, but he failed to cope with the current and drowned.
