Foreign leaders for the first time joined the “Immortal regiment”

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin took part in the Immortal regiment March in red square in Moscow. The action was first joined by leaders of foreign States, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, according to RIA Novosti.

Putin himself is involved in the action for the fourth time in the last few years, he was carrying a photo of his father who participated in the great Patriotic war.

The action “Immortal regiment” is a March, during which people are carrying photos of relatives who fought on the side of the red Army. It is the seventh time. In 2017, the event attracted about 250 thousand of participants abroad in more than 60 countries, including CIS countries, Serbia, Israel, Greece, Bulgaria, USA, France and the UK.

In 2015, Putin spoke about the memories of those who fought his father and mother, who, according to him, didn’t hate the German soldiers, because they were hostages of circumstances, drove them to the front. He said that his father passed military service in Sevastopol, in the squadron of submarines, was a sailor. When the war began, Putin’s father worked in a munitions factory, where was the so-called “reservation”, exempt from conscription. But the father wrote a statement that he wants to the front. He was sent to sabotage detachment of the NKVD, and during one of the sorties he was wounded.
