Russia in 2017, has become the largest film market in Europe, overtaking France, the report of the European audiovisual Observatory.
According to statistics, in 2017, were sold in Russia 212,2 million tickets. This is 10 per cent in 2016 and 2.8 million tickets more than in France, previously held the first place in the ranking.
France has moved into second place, also in the top five countries by number of tickets sold in the cinemas were the UK (170,6 million), Germany (122,3 million) and Spain (100,2 million).
About a quarter of tickets sold and box office receipts has produced films of domestic production, 25.6 percent and 24.3 percent, respectively. Going to the cinema is among the three most popular types of recreation.
While at the box office Russia is still lower than in European countries. Russian Boxing-office in 2017 amounted to 53,3 billion rubles, and British — 1.3 billion pounds, at the average rate over the past year is 96,1 billion.
