The court ordered Russia to compensate the Ukrainian companies losses in the Crimea

“Naftogaz of Ukraine” declared that Russia is obliged to pay compensation to Ukrainian companies have lost their assets. This was reported on the company’s page in Twitter.

“The court in the Hague ordered Russia to pay the Ukrainian investors for the annexation of the Crimea”, — stated in the message.

“Naftogaz” has filed a lawsuit against Russia in an Arbitration court in the Hague with the requirement to compensate for the loss of assets in Crimea in 2016. In March of this year commercial Director of the company Yuriy Vitrenko said that the amount of the claim “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and its subsidiaries is eight billion dollars including interest.

In February, the Ukrainian authorities have announced their intention to sell the nationalized Russia’s oil rigs in the waters of Crimea. Before that, in mid-2017, Odessa court imposed arrest on the property of “Chernomorneftegaz” in the Crimea. It was about 27 courts and 33 non-residential premises. The same court had earlier arrested four jackup rigs “Peter Godovanets”, “Ukraine”, “Sivash” and “Tavrida”.

The key asset of “Naftogaz” was in the Crimea “Chernomorneftegaz”. After the referendum in 2014, the company’s assets were nationalized and brought in the authorized capital of the new company — the Crimean Republican enterprise “Chernomorneftegaz”. It operates hydrocarbon deposits on the shelf of the Black and Azov seas.
