Investigators of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) 7 hours interrogated the leader of the Communist party (KPU) Peter Simonenko. He is suspected of preparing to overthrow the government. About it reports the UNIAN Agency.

“On 9 may, the Communists had planned to destabilize the political situation in the country and provoke violent clashes between the activists of socio-political associations,” — said the press Secretary of SBU Elena Gitlyanskaya.

Symonenko was summoned for questioning two days after the arranged SBU searches office of the Ukrainian Communist party and home to its leader. Security forces found propaganda materials “aimed at overthrowing the government” and party symbols (the activity of the Communist party, and its symbolism is forbidden in Ukraine). In addition, the apartment building found “a subject similar to a pistol with a silencer” and 120 cartridges to it.

Symonenko denies all charges. In his statement, published on the official website of the Communist party, said that neither he nor other members of the party are not related to that found in the office of the Communist party and in his apartment. According to Symonenko, the apartment 10 days no one lived and the gun he could have planted.

Last year the National Agency for prevention of corruption was suspected of Petro Symonenko violations in the financing of the Communist party. By the time the party’s activities were banned — and a decision in 2015 was made by the District administrative court of Kiev. The reason for this was the law “About the condemnation of the Communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbols” (the so-called law on de-communization).
