Ukrainian TV channel was attacked and persecuted for showing the concert on may 9

National broadcasting Council of Ukraine appointed the TV channel “inter” unscheduled inspection after the screening of the concert to the Victory Day. This is stated in the statement of the press service of the Ministry.

“The Concert “Victory. One for all” degrades the dignity of citizens of Ukraine who incites hatred and calls to undermine the integrity of the state”, — concluded in the national Council. The decision on the beginning of the inspection was made after receiving a complaint from the Department of protection of national statehood of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

The SBU did not like the words of the presenter, which he announced the concert. He, in particular, urged not to allow renaming the streets of Ukrainian cities in honor of the war criminals and opposed to torchlight processions with portraits of Nazi collaborators.

The concert TV made in advance. It was attended by Ukrainian artists, invited guests were the veterans of the great Patriotic war. The gala concert became the leader on Ukrainian TV. It was watched by 7.3 million people, or 24.7 per cent of viewers aged 18 years.

In addition to the Supervisory authorities broadcast of the concert caused a negative reaction of Ukrainian nationalists. Before the concert, representatives of the “National body” (organization banned in Russia) accused the “inter” in the “repetition of the stamps of Russian propaganda” and demanded to cancel the stream and said that “reserves the right to take any appropriate actions to ensure information security of the country”.

May 9, the day of the broadcast near the office of the TV channel gathered about 100 radicals. They blocked the entrance, painted the walls with abusive inscriptions, burned fireworks, and at the end of the campaign was thrown under the window of a bottle with an incendiary mix. Only then is present at the place the police intervened in the situation.

In defense of the “inter” was made by the representative of the OSCE. “I condemn yesterday’s attempted arson of the TV channel “inter” in Kiev. The damage and injuries prevented by the quick actions of the police. Violence is always unacceptable. I urge the Ukrainian authorities to investigate the attack and ensure secure environment for journalists,” wrote the next day after the incident in his Twitter representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir.
