The second Russian passenger aircraft MS-21 made its first flight. On Saturday, may 12, reports TASS with reference to the Ministry of industry and trade.

The airliner took off from the airfield of the Irkutsk aviation plant. The flight was at an altitude of 3 thousand meters at a speed of up to 400 kilometers per hour. Its duration was 1 hour and 7 minutes. As explained in Department, in the course of the flight experts have tested stability and controllability of the aircraft, and also conducted a health check of onboard equipment.

“The flight of the second aircraft is a significant event that will ensure the timely carrying out of flight certification testing,” — said the acting Minister of industry and trade Denis Manturov.

According to him, at the Irkutsk aviation plant built three prototypes. “In parallel with the flight and static tests are currently under active preparation for the deployment of serial production of new aircraft,” — said Manturov.

The latest Russian short and medium-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft MS-21 is designed to carry up to 211 people (the ultimate dense layout of seats in MS-21-300) at a distance of up to 6.4 thousand kilometers. First flight of the machine was made in may 2017 and serial production is planned for 2018.
