Russian President Vladimir Putin assured the head of the IAEA, Yukiya Amano, that Russia is developing nuclear power strictly according to the restrictions on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. He said this in the context of bilateral meetings, gives TASS on Monday, may 14.
“You know that Russia is one of the key participants in the process of development of nuclear energy. Fully performed all of its obligations and all work, which holds Russia in the sphere of development of nuclear energy strictly fit all the limitations associated with the non — proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,” he said.
The Russian head of state stressed that he was pleased to note the fact that the IAEA operates strictly within its Charter. He also recalled that Moscow has always supported the activities of the organization.
Yukiya Amano, in turn, said that just visited the exhibition “ATOMEXPO” and was impressed by the highly developed technology, related not only to nuclear energy but also to other areas. “The IAEA really very grateful for the support provided to the Organization by the Russian side, in particular, for the financial support, support in education, training, strengthening of nuclear safety, the fight against cancer, and also for providing excellent staff potential of our Organization,” he said.
