Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin introduced in the capital the Parliament a draft law on the establishment of polling stations outside the city, which will operate during the mayoral elections. About this he wrote on his personal website on Monday, may 14.
“By law, the mayoral elections will be held on 9 September 2018 in the “country” Sunday in the fall. Meeting with retirees and other people, I often heard complaints that on the day of voting, they either have to change the plans for the rest or ignore their civic duty,” he said.
He stressed that the situation can be corrected with the help of “mobile voter,” which was tested in the presidential election. “Technically this would be very difficult, but you can try. Of course, without the extremes, carefully. Most importantly — the purity and transparency of the elections. The observation of the voting process on “country” stations should be the same as in Moscow”, — said Sobyanin.
Secretary of the CEC, Maya Grishina of Russia, commenting on the initiative of the mayor of Moscow, said that “from the point of view of Federal law, are not excluded.”
