The former Director of the “Gogol-center” Alexei Malopolska was released from prison, changing the measure of restraint on recognizance not to leave. On Monday, may 14, reported on the website of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR).

“The decision was made taking into account age, health condition and other circumstances, and the fact that the process of gathering evidence in a criminal case has been completed and, once released, the accused will not affect the results of the investigation”, — stated in the message.

The Malopolska became ill after the court hearing on may 10, which it refused to transfer from prison under house arrest. The former Director of the “Gogol-center” was hospitalized in the cardiology Department, later the doctors reported that he suffered a heart attack.

Then it became known that the TFR sent a petition to the Basmanny court of Moscow about the release of the former Director of the “Gogol-center” from prison and his transfer to house arrest.

Malopolski is accused of embezzlement of budget funds allocated based artistic Director of “Gogol-center” Kirill Serebrennikov’s “the Seventh Studio” for the project “Platform”. In a criminal case are also previously headed the Department of state support of art and folk creativity Ministry of culture Sofia Apfelbaum, and former General Director “the Seventh Studio” Yuri Itin. They are all under house arrest.
