The international Rugby Federation (World Rugby) on its website announced that the Russian team will compete at the world Championships 2019 because of the sanctions imposed on teams Romania and Spain.

The organization found that the European teams were illegally naturalized players. In particular, after a request from the Russian side it was found that Romanians were illegally made by the athlete from Tonga. In this regard, the Federation decided to punish the teams of Romania and Spain as well as Belgium team.

The Federation has deprived the teams five points for each match, which was attended by naturalized players. This allowed Russia to bypass the teams of Romania and Spain in the European selection for the world Cup and qualify directly into the competition.

Domestic athletes for the second time will take part in the tournament which will be held from September 20 to November 2 in Japan. The Russians will play in group A with the teams of Ireland, Scotland, Japan and the winner of the playoffs of the qualifying tournament, which will be held at a later date.
