Australia re-joined the boycott of the world Cup in Russia

Members of the government of Australia decided not to attend the forthcoming football world Cup in Russia. About it reports ESPN.

The Minister of foreign Affairs Julie Bishop said the Australian representatives in Russia will not, however, the boycott does not extend to the players of the national team. “The Australian government will not interfere in the decision of the football Federation of Australia in relation to the world Cup. The Australian Ambassador in Moscow be present at the games of the team”, — said the politician.

The portal March 27, announced the intention of the Australian government to cancel the trip to Russia for the world Cup. The country is supposedly supported so British colleagues in a situation with a poisoning of the former GRU officer Sergei Skripal. But then the Bishop denied this information.

In early March, the UK government has lowered the level of delegation to the world Cup due to allegations of Russia’s involvement in the poisoning Skripal. The British joined the government of Iceland and Poland.

The world championship will be held from June 14 to July 15. Team Australia will play in one group with national teams of France, Peru and Denmark.
