Since 2014, Russia has classified order, on the basis of which destroyed the archival data of the repressed citizens of the USSR. On Friday, June 8, reports “Kommersant” with reference to Director of the Museum of Gulag history, Roman Romanov.
According to him, the corresponding order “On approval of instruction on the maintenance and use of centralized operational background, forensic and investigative accounting, formed on the basis of bodies of internal Affairs of Russia” under the heading “for official use” was signed on 12 February 2014, the Ministry of internal Affairs, justice Ministry, emergencies Ministry, defense Ministry, FSB, Federal drug control service, Federal customs service, the FSO, the SVR, the Prosecutor General and the State courier service.
According to this document, cards with information about repressed Soviet citizen and his stay in the Gulag must be destroyed once they reach 80 years.

The head of the Gulag history Museum turned to the Russian presidential adviser and the head of the HRC Mikhail Fedotov, who promised to look into the problem of the destruction of archival information. “When there is a document, it is almost impossible to falsify. And when a document is not, can you think of anything,” said Romanov.
According to the international society “memorial”, the total number of victims of Stalinist repression (including the dispossessed and displaced peoples) is 10-12 million people.
