Roskomnadzor explained the sudden “pardon” millions of IP addresses

Representatives of Roskomnadzor explained the reason for the unlock of millions of IP addresses belonging to Amazon and Online Sas. As reported “Interfax” the press service of the Ministry, the subnet no longer uses the Telegram service.

“Unlocked part of the Amazon subnets and a single subnet hosting provider Online SAS. The total number of IP addresses included in the data subnet, about eight million. These subnets are no longer used Telegram for the implementation of activities on the territory of Russia”, — said the press service.

Thus, according to Telegram-channel RKNSHOWTIME, which automatically tracks changes to the data upload to the lock, provided that the registry has been removed 7.1 million IP addresses.

In may, Amazon introduced a ban on the use of their networks as a proxy. The company explained the decision as a struggle with unscrupulous users who distribute malware. As reported by The Verge, such a step would affect the services that used Amazon to bypass the lock, including access to Telegram.

April 25, Roskomnadzor announced that it will not make a large subnet to the blocked list and move to point action. At the end of April from the list of blocked was removed three subnets: two from Amazon and one from OVH SAS, which contained little more than 14.5 million addresses.

The official decision to block Telegram messenger on the territory of Russia was made, the Tagansky district court on 13 April this year. Service representatives are required to provide law enforcement agencies the encryption keys from the correspondence of the users.
