Trump called Ovechkin a superstar

The President of the United States Donald trump congratulated the “Washington capitals” with a victory over the “Vegas Golden knights” in the final series of the Stanley Cup. The head of state addressed the team on Twitter.

“Congratulations to Washington, D.C. with a magnificent game and win the Stanley Cup. Team captain Alex Ovechkin was incredible — a real superstar!” — wrote trump.

June 8, “Washington” beat “Vegas” in the fifth match of the final series of the playoffs (4:3) and for the first time in its history, won the Stanley Cup. The team played in the National hockey League (NHL) for 43 years and only once before reached the final of the playoffs (1998).

Ovechkin scored one of the goals in the final match. Russian was declared the most valuable player of the playoffs for the Stanley Cup. 32-year-old striker became the best scorer of the regular season (49 goals) and the playoffs (15). He played for the capitals since 2005 and has never reached the final.
