The President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the enlarged meeting of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) has called the countries that made the greatest contribution to the fight against terrorism in Syria. His words RIA Novosti reported on Sunday, June 10.
“Thanks to the coordinated actions of Russia, the Syrian government, Iran, Turkey, and other partners, including Kazakhstan, have managed largely to suppress terrorist activity in this country,” — said the Russian leader.
According to Putin, now Syria, where 90 percent of the population, are under the control of Damascus.
He stressed that the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad follows all the agreements reached in January in Sochi at the Congress of the Syrian national dialogue in January in Sochi and has already sent proposals to the constitutional Committee to prepare a new Constitution.
It was reported earlier that Putin called fight against terrorism a priority in the framework of the SCO and urged the international community to pay special attention to the situation in Afghanistan.
The SCO summit held in the Chinese coastal city of Qingdao on June 9-10, at the summit it is planned to sign about 20 bilateral documents, the main of which will be the Qingdao Declaration.
