The U.S. Department of justice has indicted five employees of Russian company “Sovfracht” for the supply of jet fuel to Syria in circumvention of the sanctions of Washington against Syria. It is reported TASS with reference to the statement of the Ministry of justice.
Ivan Okorokova, Ilya Loginov, Karen Stepanyan, Alexey and Lyudmila Concavo Shelkovoi are charged with “conspiracy to circumvent U.S. economic sanctions against Syria in the implementation of remittances to Syria in dollars without the permission of the Ministry of Finance of the USA”.
The prosecution believes that the staff of “Sovfrakht”, using fake companies and fake ship registries, supplying jet fuel to Syria by tankers to the Russian company “Transperant”. In addition, they “carried out money transfers in us dollars, resorting to the services of the American financial system.”
The Ministry of justice notes that these allegations must still be proven in court. In case of recognition guilty, the defendants face up to 25 years in prison.
9 may, Washington imposed new sanctions against a number of Russian, Iranian, North Korean and Chinese defence structures. Restrictions also touched on some organizations from Turkey, Egypt and the UAE.
