Died in Moscow media Manager Leonid Kravchenko. About it reports TASS.

Information about the death of the former Chairman Gosteleradio of the USSR confirmed by his son. Kravchenko died after a long illness on 81-year life.

Leonid Kravchenko was a graduate of the faculty of journalism of Moscow state University. He worked in various public media, in leadership positions. From 1975 to 1980, Kravchenko headed “Construction newspaper”, from 1980 to 1985 edition. Within two years he was Director-General of the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union (TASS).

From November 1990 until February 1991 Kravchenko has held the post of Chairman of the USSR radio and television. During his leadership of the Committee on television was strengthened censorship, was also suspended output of the TV program “Vzglyad”.

In addition to a career in media, Kravchenko led literary and social activities. He has written several books on the history and working on television. Also in 1989-1991 journalist was the head of the hockey Federation of the USSR and was a people’s Deputy.
