From July 3 to drunk drivers in Russia will be identified by a blood test. A motorist is considered drunk if he can find 0.3 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. On Monday, July 2, according to “Kommersant”.

Up to the present time in the law the amount of alcohol in the body of the driver was calculated in ppm, the drunk was calculated only on the breath or through urine.

As the lawyer of the party “Automotive Russia” Sergey Radko, the new law resolves a legal conflict: at a time when intoxication can be determined only in the exhaled air, it was impossible to check the status of the injured or dead drivers. He noted that blood sampling is a more complex process than the use of “breathalyzer,” because, most likely, this method will only be used in some cases.

In accordance with article 12.8 of the administrative code for driving intoxicated, the driver is deprived the rights for the term from six months to two years, also will be subject to a fine of 30 thousand rubles. The same punishment is provided for the transfer of control of the vehicle to a person who is intoxicated.
