The Kurds killed the chief financier of the Islamic state in Iraq

The Kurdish paramilitary, the Peshmerga, with the support of the US-led coalition destroyed the main financier of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) in Iraq. This was stated by the commander of the militia forces in the town of Makhmour Sirwan Barzani (Sirwan Barzani), the TV channel Rudaw.

It is noted that in a joint operation managed to eliminate the three commanders of ISIS, including militant Abu Ubeid, who was responsible for funding. The militants were hiding in a mountainous area near Makhmour.

The terrorists of ISIS occupied parts of Iraq in the summer of 2014. After a year with the support of the international coalition, the Iraqi government began a massive campaign to liberate areas seized by militants. In December 2017, the Prime Minister of Iraq Haidar al-Abadi announced the final victory over the IG, noting that the threat of terrorism in the country continues.
