The United States plan to ignore the rules of the WTO

The administration of US President can make to Congress a bill that would ignore the demands of the world trade organization (WTO). It is reported portal Axios, who was the relevant document.

It is noted that the bill was prepared at the request of the President of the United States Donald trump. If adopted, the American leader will be able to approve tariffs on imported goods without the approval of Congress. This is contrary to the principles of the WTO.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the adoption of the document is equivalent to withdrawal from the WTO. The interlocutor of the edition believes that the Congress will not allow the President to such authority.

Earlier on June 29 it was reported that Donald trump is going to trigger the country’s withdrawal from the WTO. Later, the Minister of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin denied this information. According to him, the US is interested in free trade around the world.

On 15 June, the US imposed a 25 percent import duties on several categories of goods from China. On 22 June the European Commission announced the imposition of retaliatory measures — 25-percent fee for the import into the EU of U.S. corn, Bourbon, steel, aluminum and motorcycles.
