The FBI arrested the accomplice of a terrorist organization preparing terrorist attack in the U.S. city of Cleveland (Ohio) during the celebration of US independence Day on 4 July. This was stated by the official representative of the Prosecutor’s office, Mike Tobin, reports The Washington Post.
48-year-old resident of the South-Eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Demetrius N. Pitts, who is also known under the name Abdur Rahim Rafik and Salahadin Osama Walid, was taken into custody.
As the newspaper notes, the man supported “foreign terrorist organisation” which planned to arrange a terrorist attack during the parade and fireworks. Directly Pitts had to choose a place where a bomb can cause the most damage. In particular, the terrorists were going to blow up a car or truck bomb.
A man disguised member of the terrorist group “al-Qaeda” (banned in Russia) met with the FBI. Attention to Pitts drew, based on his publications in social networks.
