President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was optimistic on the question of terms of accession of Serbia into the European Union than the Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic. The words of the heads of Ukraine and Serbia on Tuesday, July 3, quoted by the Agency “Ukrainian news”.
The Ukrainian leader hoped that Serbia will become a member of the European Union until 2025. “The same goal and the Ukrainian people, where more than 70 percent of the population support European integration”, — said Poroshenko.
Vucic in response to reply Poroshenko said that he could not promise such Serbian people, but will work in this direction.
“Why Petro Poroshenko is much more successful and a better politician than I am? Because it is with great optimism told about the year 2025 regarding the European integration. I can’t say that the citizens of Serbia, can’t promise anything. I can only promise that we will work intensively on this, and then see the results. Mr. President, I really can’t say this to your people. But if you say that we will be able to 2025, I become an optimist,” said he.
In contrast to Ukraine, Serbia is a candidate for accession to the European Union. In January, the European Commissioner for European neighbourhood policy and negotiations to expand Johannes Hahn told Reuters the probability of membership of Belgrade in the EU up to 2025 exist. The current Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic after winning the presidential election in April 2017, has promised that Serbia will continue its path to the European Union.
