The passenger sat for seven hours of flight time in a chair without upholstery, and his mother called it “the worst seat”, which she had seen in his life. Reported by the news.com.au.
The incident occurred on the liner of the Irish airline Aer Lingus, flying from Chicago to Dublin. Matt Madrigal said that, climbing aboard the plane, he saw my chair and was shocked by his appearance. When the man asked the flight attendant what was the matter, she asked him to temporarily sit in that seat until all other passengers will not complete the landing.
“When they were on the plane, I again called the stewardess, and she said she would come to me later. But it didn’t fit. As soon as we took off, I realized that I have to sit in this chair, because the other available seats in the plane,” complained Madrigal.
Learning about the incident, his mother was disappointed. “They forced me to sit my son all the way to Ireland itself in the worst chair I have ever seen. When he sent me a photo of the seat, I did not even realized it,” shared the mother of Madrigal.
The man paid for the flight in both directions 658 dollars, but as compensation he received only a voucher for $ 50.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. I’m sorry that you were so disappointed with the broken chair” — said to a passenger airline.
After he sent his complaint to the organization for the protection of the rights of consumers, they contacted the airline and Madrigal returned $ 500 per ticket.
In may, the British design Agency PearsonLloyd figured out how to organize the space in the plane so that the passengers are not cramped and the flight was comfortable for them. To do this, designers have developed new seats that have special narrow spinal frame connecting part of the rear seat in the middle.
