Spoil Repin in the Tretyakov gallery vandal Igor podporin will be directed for psychiatric examination. On Thursday, July 5, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the lawyer of the accused Anna Lubyagin.
In an interview with reporters Lubyagin noted that he did not know what examination — inpatient and outpatient — will send it to the client.
The incident in the Tretyakov gallery occurred the evening of 25 may, just before the closing of the Museum. Podporin broke into the empty hall Ilya Repin and hit the metal bar of the fence for the glazed canvas painting “Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan”. As a result, the canvas was torn in three places, in addition, suffered the author’s art frame.
During the interrogation, the accused admitted that before the deterioration of the painting and drank in the canteen of the Tretyakov gallery one hundred grams of vodka, and it “covered”. He said that he considers Ivan the terrible canonized, and his understanding of the painting offends the feelings of believers.
In relation Podporina opened a criminal case under article 243 of the criminal code of Russian Federation (“Destruction or damage of cultural heritage”), to it threatens till six years of imprisonment.
The painting “Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan on 16 November 1581” (also known as “Ivan the terrible kills his son”) were painted by Russian artist Ilya Repin from 1883 to 1885, and in 1885, purchased by the founder of the Tretyakov gallery Pavel Tretyakov from the author during the exposure of the “Society of traveling art exhibitions”. The canvas is represented in the permanent exhibition of the Tretyakov gallery and is never given out to the exhibition.
