If Russia tries to intervene in the November elections in the US, the us will be forced to take “draconian measures”. This was stated by Senator John Neely Kennedy in an interview with “Kommersant” on results of visit to Moscow.
“We told our interlocutors: if Russia continues to interfere in the internal Affairs of the United States and make it to the November Congressional elections, our reaction will be instantaneous and very harsh,” said Kennedy.
The Senator did not specify what he means by “draconian”, but noted that the reaction of the American side will depend on Russia’s actions. “We would like to establish relations with Russia. I personally would like. But, in order relations have improved, the Russian government needs to change their behavior,” added Kennedy.
The visit of the American senators in Moscow lasted from 30 June to 5 July. In Russia came Republican senators, Richard Shelby, John Neely Kennedy, and John Hoeven. It was noted that the travel arrangements were made by Ambassador of the USA in Russia John huntsman. He wanted the senators “understand what is happening.”
The U.S. has repeatedly accused Russia of meddling in the presidential campaign to help Trump to win the election. Under the assumptions of U.S. officials, in July, Russian hackers broke into the servers of the National Committee of the Democratic party, and the party Committee of the Congressional. Were also expressed suspicion that Russia might try to influence the voting by hacking computers. Moscow all charges have been consistently denied. In addition, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin declared that the USA is constantly interfering in elections in Russia.
