“Yandex” will compete with social networks

The company “Yandex” intends to turn the service “Zen” in competitor Instagram, Facebook and YouTube are worth billions of dollars. As reported by The Bell heads “Yandex.Zen”, the launch of the service has recognized successful experiment and decided to allocate it in a separate line of business.

CEO directions will be Dmitry Ivanov, before heading the direction Yandex Discovery, which is still being developed “Zen”. Victor Lambert, who participated in the launch of “Zen” a year ago, will move to the position of Executive Director.

The leadership of the “Zen” expects a significant increase in curricular and financial performance over the next five years. Benchmarks are not known, however, Lambert draws an analogy with the fast-growing Chinese platforms, for example, nushida Toutiao, which is estimated at $ 30 billion.

“If we talk about business sense to “Yandex”, “Zen” is an opportunity to increase mobile audience and to market social media. The market, which has traditionally been a stranger to “Yandex”. This is the territory Vkontakte, Instagram, Facebook and others. And we in this area has begun work”, — said Ivanov.

Ivanov announced the new formats in the “Zen”. In particular, now in the “Zen” you can place a short text, a text with a picture or just a picture. In the near future it will be possible to post short videos from your phone. First of all the “Zen” required click, notes Lambert.

Recommender platform “Yandex.Zen” was launched in the summer of 2017. The daily audience service is 13 million users.
