NATO concerned about the possibility of reaching Russian President Vladimir Putin and his us counterpart Donald trump, arrangements to bypass the Alliance during the meeting, scheduled for July 16. In an interview with German media group Funke said the coordinator of the German government for transatlantic relations Peter Bayer, Reuters reports.
He noted that representatives of the Alliance did not participate in the planning of the meeting of heads of Russia and the USA in Helsinki. In addition, in NATO, there are “large concerns” about what any agreement can achieve the trump and Putin.
Bayer added that a similar situation took place and before meeting trump by North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN on June 12 in Singapore. “Kim Jong-UN while only handing out promises. We don’t know if it stopped the uranium enrichment process. Only trump said that the summit was successful,” said Bayer.
According to him, the trump meeting with the DPRK leader has raised fears that the US President would “spend itself” and Putin.
The leaders of Russia and USA will meet in the Finnish capital Helsinki on July 16. It was reported that they intend to discuss the prospects of further development of relations between Moscow and Washington, as well as topical issues on the international agenda. Trump is going to talk with Putin about the conflict in Syria and the Ukraine, in advance of Moscow’s intervention in the American elections and other issues.
This will be the first full meeting of the two presidents without reference to the summits. Year ago heads of state met for the first time in Hamburg on the sidelines of the G20, and then had a short conversation in Vietnam at the APEC summit.
