MiG-21 Romanian air force crashed during a demonstrations in the South of the country, RIA Novosti reported on Saturday, July 7.
According to the Ministry of national defence of Romania, the flights were carried out at a military air base in Fetesti. The fighter crashed 10 kilometers from it. Later it became known that the pilot died. The crash left the Board of the air staff and the Minister of national defence Mihai Fifor. The military Prosecutor’s office conducts investigation of circumstances of accident.
“Interfax” specifies that the plane exploded when it hit the ground.
On 6 July it was reported about the crash of a military aircraft MiG-29 air force of Poland in the warmińsko-Mazurskie province of the country. The plane crashed during a night flight, the pilot managed to eject but was killed.
The MiG-21 is a Soviet supersonic light tactical fighter of the second generation, the most massive in history. Developed by OKB Mikoyan and Gurevich in the mid 1950-ies.
MiG-29 — Soviet multipurpose fighter the fourth generation, developed in OKB MiG. Developed in the 1970-ies.
