Kyivvodokanal warned residents of Ukraine about the possible restriction or complete cessation of the supply of drinking water. This is stated in a press release on the website of the company.
The utility explained that due to the suspension of work for an indefinite period of company “DneprAzot” is the largest manufacturer of chlorine for disinfection of drinking water — supplies of chemicals for water utilities comes to an end, in some plants the chlorine is left on the term from a week to 20 days.
“If “DneprAzot” do not urgently resume its work, in the beginning of next week supply of water in the centralized water supply network in some regions and cities of Ukraine can be significantly limited, and in some cities and completely stopped,” according to “Kyivvodocanal.”
The situation is complicated by the fact that Ukraine is not able to procure liquid chlorine in Europe because of the differing dimensions of the railway track and the inability of the European tanks to move across the country. In tanks, chlorine for disinfection get Kiev, Kharkov, Krivoy Rog and a number of other cities. “Alternatives to the urgent start of production on “DneprAzot” no” — summed up the utility.
