China has offered Russia to create a “space Internet”

The representatives of China in the negotiations in Moscow invited Roskosmos to discuss the possibility of creating the analogue of OneWeb and Starlink — satellite constellation providing broadband Internet access. It is reported RIA Novosti citing a source in the space industry.

“In a bilateral meeting on July 4, the Chinese delegation arrived in Moscow to explore new management of Roskosmos, has submitted, including its plans for the formation of a layered satellite constellation context. During the meeting it was announced the proposal to involve Russia in the project”, — stated in the message.

Earlier “Rosatom” has presented in Moscow satellite system “Ether”. It was reported that the implementation of the project will require about 300 billion rubles. For full coverage with satellite Internet territory Russia needs for more than 70 spacecraft, for the whole Earth is about 300.

In April, Russia recognized the gap with the US in technology of rocket engines, as well as the inability to create their own satellites. In the same month, the source said that Western countries do not want to cooperate with Russia on the project of a lunar station, because of the lag “all the technological cycles of manufacturing space technology”.
