The company Transit Systems that provide passenger transportation in Sydney, Australia, was accused of causing dangerous behavior of drivers due to the introduction of prize money. Reported by the Daily Mail.

According to the publication, professional associations fear that a reward of five thousand dollars for those who most often comes to stop in time, will lead to excessive speed and violation of traffic rules.

The Secretary of the Association of transport workers, Richard Olsen noted that additional inducements to adhere to the schedule, only provoke dangerous behavior. He stated that there are real issues associated with traffic and congestion of Sydney.

“Something wrong with this schedule, if it should accelerate,” he said.

Member of the working group on transport Jody McKay called the prize “threat”, noting that staff should not feel pressure because of this. The Minister of transport and infrastructure, Andrew Constance, in turn, said that the award is a great way to encourage drivers.

Executive Director, Transit Systems Clint Fairhead noted that those who violate the rules will be suspended from work.
