The strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland will be the best response to Russian policy. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the ceremony of memory of victims of the Polish-Ukrainian conflict of 1943-1944. The text of the speech, the Ukrainian leader leads his press service.
“Russia is waging against Ukraine, and not only against Ukraine but also against Poland, against the whole of Europe, against the world war in order to impose their “Russian world”. They tried to do this first project of “Novorossiya” — the Kharkov people’s Republic, people’s Republic of Zaporozhye, Odessa national Republic… We came together and stopped them. And the project “new Russia” was destroyed by our joint efforts, not only of the armed forces,” — said Poroshenko.
After that, Russia, according to Ukrainian leader, realized that a direct attack is ineffective, and moved on to other methods of war. Moscow engaged in the manipulation of the common issues of the past to drive a wedge between the Polish and Ukrainian people, Poroshenko is confident.
“Only the strong strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland will be the best powerful response to the aggressive policy of the Kremlin”, — believes the head of state.
“Now, at the beginning of the XXI century, Ukraine has been obliged again to defend its independence, its sovereignty, its territorial integrity, in simple words, their land. Every piece of our land we must protect and return under the Ukrainian flag, under Ukrainian sovereignty,” said Poroshenko.
Relations between Kyiv and Moscow deteriorated sharply after the reunification of the Crimea with Russia in March 2014 and the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass in April of the same year. Ukraine accuses Moscow regularly in the conduct of hostilities in the South-East of its territory and calls the aggressor, the Kremlin rejects these accusations.
