Us Senator John Kennedy, who recently visited on a visit Russia, said that working with the authorities — it’s like “to deal with the mafia”. Reported by the Associated Press.

The legislator told reporters that the meeting with the officials from time to time was very ridiculous, and the most difficult thing was with foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Kennedy said that a diplomat is a badass. “Of course we did not call each other ignorant Sluts or something like that, but still exchanged harsh words”, he said.

According to the diplomat, Russia has no political philosophy: “it’s like talking about the political philosophy of the mafia”. “Their philosophy is money and power. That is the philosophy of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. He rules with an iron fist. He is a dictator,” says the Senator.

At the same time, he believes that no problem for meeting the Russian President with the American leader Donald trump no, although no breakthroughs should be expected. “You can’t trust Putin — says Kennedy. — I think the best thing we can do is try to restrain him.”

The Senator added that Russia has no free press, the obvious gap between the elites and ordinary citizens and Russians “deserve the best”.

Earlier, Senator Ron Johnson, who also visited Russia, I was disappointed by the sanctions. He pointed out that the President of the United States Donald Trump and American lawmakers should reconsider the restrictive measures imposed and to pay attention to Russian oligarchs.

The visit of the American senators lasted from 30 June to 5 July. During the trip they visited Moscow and St. Petersburg, met with the Russian colleagues from Federation Council and the state Duma.
