A letter to the “Rosatom”, which refers to the interest of Kiev in the restoration of bilateral cooperation with Moscow in the field of nuclear energy, is a fake. This was stated by energy Minister of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk in conversation with the newspaper “Economic truth”.

The Minister showed another letter, where it is only about the readiness to discuss the status of implementation of joint projects. According to a source publication, the first letter is genuine, but Nasalyk can assure you without reading it because of the huge number of documents. The Minister believes that he gave the letter to sign in order to substitute.

Earlier the newspaper “Ukrainian Pravda” reported that Igor Nasalyk in his letter to the first Deputy Director of “Rosatom” Cyril Komarov has offered to increase cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. It was noted that the letter also confirmed the interest of the Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine in the further development of bilateral relations with Russia.

In 2010, Russia and Ukraine adopted a decision on joint construction of a plant for the production of nuclear fuel in Kirovohrad region. In the middle of 2015 Kiev has frozen the project.

Relations between Kyiv and Moscow deteriorated sharply after the reunification of the Crimea with Russia in March 2014 and the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass in April of the same year. Ukraine accuses Moscow regularly in the conduct of hostilities in the South-East of its territory and calls the aggressor, the Kremlin rejects these accusations.
