Turkey will receive from the Russian anti-aircraft missile systems s-400 to the end of 2019, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu. His words conveys Yenicag Wednesday, July 11. Earlier it was reported that deliveries will begin in the summer of 2019.
According to the policy, the transaction will take place, despite the fact that the US and other NATO members opposed the purchase by Ankara of the Russian air defense system, and is “not subject to further discussion.”
He noted that Turkey takes into account the technical difficulties that may arise in connection with the purchase of weapons, in particular the incompatibility of s-400 with other systems of the Alliance.
In April, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated the resolve of his country to buy Russian s-400, despite the introduction of new US sanctions against Russia.
On 4 April it was reported that the beginning of deliveries With-400 “Triumph” in Turkey will accelerate, the timing was moved to July 2019.
In March Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara will use the s-400 only for their own protection. He also reported that SAM needs Turkey urgently because of the lack of the country’s air defense system.
