On one of the hacker forums were put up for sale the secret documents of the us military. According to The Bleeping Computer with reference to experts in the field of cybersecurity, the company Recorded Future.
Some stolen files include tutorials for maintenance of unmanned aerial vehicles MQ-9 Reaper, and various tutorials on the creation of improvised explosive devices, manual tank M1 Abrams and a detailed description of the tactics of the tank platoon.
According to experts, the leaked materials would allow opponents to evaluate the technical opportunities and weaknesses in one of the most technologically advanced unmanned vehicles, which is in the air force and the U.S. Navy.
Experts have found that hackers are selling data at a price from 150 to 200 dollars, which is quite cheap for such documents. To steal textbooks, burglars used an old vulnerability in the Netgear routers, which is allowed to access the device by entering the standard password. Some of these routers were in the territory of military facilities. Experts believe that some of the documents were stolen from the Pentagon or the officers of the US Army.
The incident could have been easily prevented if the IT-Department of military bases are better monitored for safety and changed if the standard credentials, experts believe.
