Ukrainian TV channel fined for a concert to the Victory Day

Ukrainian TV channel “inter” was fined 154,4 thousand dollars for the broadcast of the concert to the Victory Day. This was reported on the website of the National Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine.

Representatives of the organization provided in the broadcast “incitement to hatred”. The amount of recovery amounted to 4,046 million — 25 percent of the license fee. The decision was taken unanimously.

The concert, entitled “Victory. One for all” was the reason for the scandal before the celebration of May 9. The subject of disagreement made comments leading to the de-communization of Ukraine. Then the national Council for television and radio broadcasting has proposed to inter change the broadcasting network the Day of Victory. And the members of the party “national body” characterized by ultra-right-wing views, in an attempt to prevent the broadcast was blocked by several buildings in Kiev, owned by the channel “inter”. Despite protests, the concert was broadcast.

This is not the first penalty against inter. The channel was repeatedly subjected to penalties due to the demonstration of Soviet films. In the fall of 2016, a group of radicals vandalized version.
