Mixing and flooding in the Pacific ocean the Russian airlock module-compartment Pirs before sending to the ISS a new module “Nauka” trust cargo ship “Progress MS-12”, which in honor of the hero of the story of Ivan Turgenev “mu-Mu” received the informal name “Gerasim”, told RIA Novosti source in the space industry.

Send “Gerasimos” to the ISS is scheduled for April 2019, redocking from the Zvezda module to the compartment “Pirs” to be held in the summer of 2019. The “Pier” the truck will be until autumn, waiting for the decision about the launch of “Science”.

It is assumed that “Progress” with the “Pier” will otstegat from the station after the “Science” will launch into orbit and test the efficiency of its propulsion and control systems, since the module will have to visit to the ISS. The precaution caused by fear that, in case undocking “the Pier” until the launch of “Science” and any fault at last, the Russian segment can remain without both modules.

Currently, the module “Science” is planned to be sent to the Baikonur cosmodrome in the period from November 2018 and February 2019. Prelaunch will take eight months.

The “science” in the “Center Khrunichev” build in 1995. The module is actually a stand-in “Dawn” — the first functional cargo block, International space station, built with American money. To start the module expected in 2007, but the deadline was repeatedly postponed, twice (2013 and 2016) — due to the discovery of contamination in the fuel tanks. In addition, anonymous sources said about the obsolescence of its rubber elements.

“Science” along with created a “Dock” and scientific-power module should be the basis for the Russian national orbital station after stopping the operation of the International space station.
