Prime Minister Theresa may expressed the hope that the meeting of heads of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald trump will help to build a constructive dialogue with Moscow. According to her, this is the main long-term goal of London, despite the Russian aggression, writes The Guardian.

“I welcome the appointment of the President trump and President Putin because the open communication between the U.S. and Russia — a key point in reducing the risk of confrontation,” she said during the NATO summit, held in Brussels on 11-12 July.

Mei also asked trump to discuss with the Russian leader’s aggression against the West, including the British occurred in Salisbury poisoning nerve substance of the Novice class of the former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia, and then two more Brits in the next town.

At the same time, it is noted that British Ministers are concerned about the meeting of Putin and trump, which will take place immediately after the first official visit of the White house to Britain on 13 July. They fear that it will harm the interests of NATO or complicate the situation on the Eastern borders of Europe.

The leaders of Russia and USA will meet in the Finnish capital Helsinki on July 16. It was reported that they intend to discuss prospects of further development of relations between Moscow and Washington, as well as topical issues on the international agenda. Trump is going to talk with Putin about the conflict in Syria and Ukraine, the alleged Moscow’s intervention in the American elections.

This will be the first full meeting of the two presidents without reference to the summits. Year ago heads of state met for the first time in Hamburg on the sidelines of the G20, and then had a short conversation in Vietnam at the APEC summit.
